THE MADDING CROWD

by Dennis Forbes

NO GRUDGES: Founder of the gay-oriented Metropolitan Community Church, the Reverend Troy Perry, has revealed that he's recently offered

former anti-gay rights celebrity Anita

Bryant a job-giving a concert at the MCC's home church in Los

Angeles. Perry indicated he'd been prompted to send Bryant the invitation to perform by a National Enquirer article reporting that Christian

churches had cancelled scheduled concerts by the born-again former Miss America runner-up as a result of her divorce action last year against her now exhusband, Bob Green. Saying that he'd

"forgiven" the singer for her recanted anti-

gay rights views,

pioneer gay activist

Perry added, "She has

a right to make a

living. . ." It's not known

what response Bryant's

made to Perry's letter.
